Royal Canin and Friendicoes SECA collaborate to launch India's first large-scale Animal-Assisted Intervention project, harnessing the healing power of shelter animals to improve mental health and emotional well-being.
Royal Canin, in collaboration with Friendicoes SECA, is pioneering a large-scale Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI) project in India to address growing mental health and loneliness concerns. This initiative leverages the therapeutic power of cats and dogs to enhance the emotional, social, and cognitive well-being of individuals affected by autism, dementia, depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Expert animal behaviourist Shirin Dhabhar will oversee the training of shelter animals to support this initiative, ensuring the highest standards of implementation.
"This project is not just about changing lives but reshaping the very essence of the human-animal bond," says Shirin Dhabhar, emphasizing the life-changing potential of pairing shelter animals with individuals in need.
Royal Canin’s General Manager, Satinder Singh, added, "We want to demonstrate the positive impact that pets can have on human companions and transform the lives of society's most vulnerable members."
Geeta Seshamani, Vice President of Friendicoes SECA, expressed, "This project is about second chances for both animals and humans, proving that every life has the power to make a difference."
The first phase of the initiative will bring together a multidisciplinary team, with plans to expand to key cities across India. This groundbreaking project reflects Royal Canin's commitment to creating a better world for pets and people.
